Oskee & his Pet Mom came to live on the campus of the University of Illinois in 2002 as a house dog and house mom for 55 sorority women. Read as Oskee tells his stories of life as a small Bichon Frise on a large college campus.
A little about Oskee: He turned 12 in September. He is getting up there in years but still very much a puppy as he loves to play. Chasing a ball is his favorite game. He also enjoys scaring off the mail lady, the UPS driver, and paper boy.
He loves meeting other dogs regardless of the size. In his mind, he is just as big. His favorite friend is Buttons, a Bichon, who lives in the neighborhood. They are “best buds” and like to walk together.
Oskee goes to Reigning Cats and Dogs for his “spa” treatment. He is not too keen on the bath but enjoys hearing how handsome he looks when he is done.
He loves to ride in the car. One of his favorite trips is to the bank. He jumps over to the driver side, and watches the tube go up. Of course the big pay-off is the treat that is usually inside when the tube returns. He also enjoys going to TCBY, the yogurt shop, for a kiddie cup. He jumps over on the driver’s lap and licks his lips as he waits for the treat to be delivered to the window. He attracts a lot of attention!
Oskee only has two years of college, but he is pretty smart. He can shake, sit, roll over, play dead and stay. He knows where the treats are kept and can hear the lid come off a can of Pringles from anywhere in the house.
He earns his food and treats by being the doorbell, alarm clock and crumb catcher. He alerts the household when anyone comes, starts whimpering at the crack of dawn and is constantly under foot in the kitchen.
Oskee’s favorite past time is …..sleeping. What a life!
